Cinemalogue’s staff consists of professionals with experience in journalism, film criticism, screenwriting, literature, and academic instruction/discourse. Successful journalism, in our view, depends upon a competent editorial staff to oversee the newsworthiness, standards and practices, and to enhance the value of information by providing the reader with a well-informed opinion.
That said, film criticism is not prescriptive. That is, film criticism endeavors not to tell the reader what to think, but to broaden how the reader thinks about cinema and, by extension, culture. For this reason, we exclude ratings or spoiler warnings. Discussing the details of a movie is an inherent component of comment/criticism.
